where I truly lived

Once, I took some poison,
and it killed me and I died,
deep down inside,
but only a little bit,

and it made me feel
a little bit happier,
for a while.

Once, I drove my car
into a river so deep,
and my life drowned away,

and it killed me and I died,
but only a little bit,

and again,
it made me feel
a little bit happier,
for a while.

Once, I drove my car
into a big tree,
and that was
the end of me,

and it killed me and I died,
but only a little bit,

and once again,
it made me feel
a little bit happier,
for a while.

Once, I parked my car
in front of a speeding train,
and it crushed my car
and the life from me,

and it killed me and I died,
but only a little bit,

and still again,
it made me feel
a little bit happier,
for a while.

Once, I shot myself,
right in the head,
and I bled and bled
till I was dead,

and it killed me and I died,
but only a little bit,

and all over again,
it made me feel
a little bit happier,
for a while.

All these things happened,
only in my head,
for that was where
I thought I lived.

Once you stopped loving me,
and it killed me and I died,
dead as I can be,

it made me feel
all so dead inside,

because it killed my heart,
and I found out that,
that is where I truly lived.
