thin ice

We live in a world where
the ice is too thin,

and yet we, many, choose
to venture out,
risking all.

The weight of the world,
weighs heavy down upon,
this ice so thin,

and strains and tests

it’s limits.

Dare we leave
safety of shore,
to explore uncharted lands,
in hopes of some reward,
where few ever be found.

Safety is safe,
and daring foolhardy.

How many fools
will be fooled,
in the end

as they choose to dare?
