I Prayed for Angels

When I got the news,
it almost killed me.

All I could do was pray,
"God, please don't let this be true".

How could I go on without
my wife and family.

My life flashed before my eyes
again and again.

All the memories of my family,
the good times, the bad times,
the accomplishments, the mistakes.

So much of life lived out,
with this family of mine,
soon to be forever lost.

I prayed every free moment
of every day for months
with tear filled eyes,
that somehow
I could work things out
with help from Heaven above.

As time passed it didn't seem that
it would be possible
for my prayers to be answered.

A time came
that my prayers
began to change
somewhat.

I still asked for my wife
and family back,
but I also asked for the Father's help
to get through these heartbreaking times.

I asked the Father to send me some "Angels"
to help me deal with this tragic loss,
if it must be, and to send me a special "Angel"
to care for and love me in a way that
my wife was no longer able to.

I also asked for help
in recognizing these "Angels".

At first I looked for wings and halos,
but saw none.

I then looked for some kind of signs,
but found none.

I then started looking at the deeds
of those that I came in contact with.

This was the point at which
it all became clear to me.

My prayers were being answered,
right before my eyes.

So many "Angels",
with gifts sent by God,
each fulfilling a different need.

Not only was there
the acceptance of their gifts,
but the return in equal measure,
straight from my heart to each of them.

Riding upon their wings,
high above my river of tears ,
and the burning flames of pain,
all were met but the last of my needs.

The special "Angel"
that would share her life with me.

I pray that she will soon come,
and fill my heart with her love.

She may already be in my life,
and I may need time to recognize her .

I search with my heart as my guide.

What a joyous day that will be,
when it comes.

We will share our lives as partners,
both working hard
to make our partnership
the best it can be.

I will take no more than I can give,
but I will give my all to her, and she to me.
