Ladybugs and Pennys

Walking down
the side of the road,
lost was all hope inside,
and all I could do,

was dream, wish and pray,
that her love would come back,
that God would find a way.

I guess what I wanted
was some kind of sign
that I could once more
make her mine.

And just when I thought
that all hope was lost,
and looked down
at all my tears
falling to the ground,

I couldn't believe it,
what could this mean,
there was a penny
that laid at my feet.

Everyone knows
a penny’s good luck,
so I wondered,
could it be my sign.

I was walking back from shopping,
I bought her some gifts,
I prayed I could give her someday.

I bought her a mug
covered with hearts,
all shiny and bright,
some chocolates
and some strawberry wafers,
all in a bag, wrapped up
in a red bow.

I set the gifts down
on the desktop by me,
and once more to my surprise,
a ladybug flew out of the bag,
and landed right next to me,

on a white piece of paper,
where I'd written down her name
and the address of the place she works,
so I could send her some flowers.

And an eerie feeling did come over me,
for how could this not be a sign.

For everyone knows,
if a lady bug lands on you,
that is the best of good luck.

And that is what I do now need,
the best of good luck
to bring her back by my side.
