I told my heart

I told my heart
not to love you,
not to dream of you,

not to wish,
not to want,
not to pray.

But it just wouldn't listen.
It had a mind of it's own.

So I asked your heart
to open up to me
and let me in

be with me,
care for me,
share with me,
to try, if only.

But it could only run away,
time and again.

So we battled this battle we faced
and gave the time required,

but it just wasn't to be
and we lost it in the end.

So why did we even try?
So much time we did waste.

My dreams dying one by one.
Our tears drying one by one.

So I cut my apple
and eat the slices,

that were my dreams
which had no chance.

all is gone,
no hopes,
no dreams.

Only the frustration of it all,
once upon my dreams of us.
