Not one thing I have done,
do I regret,
but for my slowness in the committing,
of my heart so totally to her,
and the losing of my treasured gift,
that was her love.
And she said that I was trying to control her,
something I would have never done,
but for the fact that I saw her slipping away,
and tried to get her to stay,
and what are the ways that this could be done,
that would not be perceived as controlling.
No books to read, where answer could be found,
were ever known by me,
or I would have known the ways,
and just what to say,
so she wouldn’t take her love away.
And it drove me crazy to see her go,
so I did some foolish things,
all to no avail, for she left just in the same.
