her way

She begged me to just let go,
and move on,

because, that is what you do,
when you find somebody new,
and the old is just in the way.

At least that’s what I guess,
for I have heard this all before,
and it rings in my ears forevermore,
and now again again.

So far behind is where
she wants me to be,
and far away from she,

and though it not be my wish,
what choices do I have?

So this is my D-day,
and tomorrow it will be,
that I try to start anew,

on the day of thanks,
for the giving,
though it be taken away,

but I do live to love again,
in a day I now can’t see,

and from this learning
and this pain,
a better man I’ll be,
to the lucky lady,
that turns my head her way.
