deep within

There are those who could give you diamonds,
and those who could give you gold,

more than your arms could carry,
or your hands could ever hold.

but me, I am a simple man,
as simple is my life,

and I have not the means
to shower you with gifts,
but for those
from deep within my heart.

The treasure that they be,
I think that you can see,
you and you alone.

So I’ll give them to you
each and every day,
both night and day again,
til our lives fade away,
and they reach their ends,

and though you won’t have
those diamonds and gold,
you’ll have the things,
with which to hold,
that the richest of rich
will never possess,
but envy again and again.
