This chill

I died last night, forever gone,
as no one to be missed.

I lived out my life, average at best,
and my highlight was her kiss.

With out me this world will surely go on.
This can't be denied.

The one thing that I'll miss the most,
is to gaze into her eyes.

So few of us get to make our mark,
as lucky as we be.

But it was my wish that at the least,
she would remember me.

And I thought she would, but my worst fear was,
in not so fond a way,

As mistakes have taken their toll,
and my time has come to pay.

This toll I have had to pay has haunted me,
and I know forever will.

The price was she took her love away,
and I'm left in such a chill.
