All that mattered

I gave her my heart to hold,
for how was I to know,
that she was going to let go,
and send me on my way.

With all the pain of this,
and to never again know,
of her sweet kiss,
I can’t believe it had
to turnout this way.

But she made up her mind,
in a time and place far away,
before she ever let me know.

So what am I to do,
she said that we are through,
and her heart could never
feel the same way.

So I pick up the pieces,
and hang my head low,
and hide behind a smile.

Don’t want to let the world know,
she took all I had that mattered,
when she took her love away.
