I had ventured high
into the sky,
up among the clouds,
I was heaven bound.
My quest led me to
that angel I had found.
And I saw her and I smiled,
and at me, she then did smile,
and I looked her way and winked an eye,
then she did wink right back.
I reached out my hand to her,
and she took hold,
I opened my arms, and in them,
she, I did enfold.
We walked and we talked,
and we learned of each one,
the other,
and we learned and we grew,
and the next thing we knew,
the sweetest of love,
between us both grew.
The next thing I knew,
I was called back to the ground,
and I looked high and low,
but she was nowhere
to be found,
and my heart cried out
in endless refrain,
and the tears came pouring
down like rain,
and my heart was filled with
the greatest of pain.
How could heaven tease,
and give me my dreams,
and not let me sleep till their end?
