victorious triumph

and I wondered what a real love felt like,
one so strong and true.

The kind where one is more important to the other,
than even them, themselves.

And the kind where you would gladly give your life,
to protect that one from harm.

A love where someone gives their all,
just as did I, but even so much more,
in intangible ways, superficially unseen.

Such gift's as I have dreamt of earning,
my whole life through, in my every deed I do.

Yes, I wonder such things,
yearned for the knowledge,
longing for the experience,
to taste my piece of pie.

I lived my whole life in such a way,
as to deserve all of this and more,
and lived to see my reward, in you.

But you say it's not to be,
for this is not your way,

and you were my prize
I held for a time so short,
that you had to take away.

So here I stand on mountain top,
this one so hard to climb,

and I look down on the world,
in my deprived victorious triumph,

devastated all alone.
