hardest

The hardest thing
I ever had to do,
was give to her
the thing she
would not ask for,

but plainly,
so desperately needed.

Why take hold of a hand,
that must be freed
so painfully?

Why love, to lose,
why take that chance,
just to chase dreams?

Why love with all,
to bottomless pit,
where landing can
never be know?

Dream your dream,
dreamer boy,
and prepare for
the fall.

Hope your hopes,
seek out your joy,
knowing in the end,
you do never win.

That's what she said,
and she should know,
this holder of the key,
to this heart inside of me.

This key be never turned,
this prize remain unclaimed,
oozing in it's only chance,
stewing in this rain.
